Would you like to work with someone on a one to one basis, helping them to help themselves?
Working with someone, over a period of time, to provide support, guidance and/or friendship can be one of the most rewarding forms of volunteering if you would like to make a longer term commitment.
Mentoring
Mentoring is about building a one-to-one relationship, which involves providing support and encouragement to the other person, so that they are able to achieve one or many goals. Mentoring most commonly refers to projects which put a more experienced person with someone else who will use their skills and experience to assist another person to reach their full potential. The Mentoring and Befriending Foundation specialises in this type of volunteering.
Befriending
Befriending means providing supportive, reliable relationships through volunteer befrienders to people who could otherwise be socially isolated.
Advocacy
Advocacy is about acting on another persons behalf, to provide them with support in dealing with authorities and service providers.
