Interested in volunteering in a health, care or mental health setting?

Hospitals, hospices, day centres, GP surgeries, transport schemes for the elderly and disabled, and mental health services are just some of the settings in which volunteers may be involved. Volunteers in such settings may be engaged in variety of tasks from one to one home support to providing refreshments on a hospital ward. Such volunteering can provide useful experience for anyone seeking a career in the health or care professions but can also be extremely rewarding in itself.

• Contact your local hospital and ask if there is a Voluntary Service Manager or equivalent person
• Contact your local GP surgery to find out if they involve volunteers
• Get in touch with your social services department to find out if they involve volunteers
Your local volunteer centre may also know of opportunities in health and social care settings
