Volunteering in the justice system
The government recognises that people need to be put at the heart of the criminal justice system (CJS), and that volunteering is an excellent way of doing this. There are many situations where volunteers can add value – be that a passion, a personal touch or a claim to independence - in a way that paid staff cannot. Whether it is through reducing re-offending, victim support or preventative activities such as mentoring those at risk of offending, volunteers can help at every level of the CJS.
